Camera Walks

Caitlin laughs while carrying her camera on a sunny walk with Jasper behind her

A camera walk is simple. Find a friend who is at least a little obsessed with photography or video, choose somewhere unfamiliar and set out to make something beautiful.

Kenan has long used these walks as a way to spend time with friends. Conversation settles the nerves, the cameras begin to feel ordinary and candid portraits become much more natural.

Camera walks make room for creativity, honest conversation and the kind of portraits that arrive once everyone relaxes.

Learning with Caitlin

Caitlin is every bit as interested in cameras. On one bright Christchurch walk she brought her Fujifilm X-T30 II and made the most of its film simulations while Jasper, her energetic fifteen-year-old dog, came along for the adventure.

Returning to good places

Forest paths, streams and a first encounter with snow became places to practise portraiture, notice changing light and learn from the images that did not quite work. The point is not perfection. It is curiosity, company and another reason to keep looking.

Let’s make something honest
