Murder Mystery Work Party
The evening was a Western-themed murder mystery for Kenan’s workplace. He was meant to participate, but a recently purchased camera made becoming the designated photographer far too tempting.
The actors brought distinctive characters, elaborate costumes and plenty of unpredictable moments. It was the sort of room where watching the edges mattered as much as following the main performance.
The room was full of colour, character and fleeting reactions, exactly the details event photography is made to hold onto.
Photographing the atmosphere
Multicoloured moving lights gave every frame its own character. Kenan’s Canon R6 II and 50mm f/1.8 handled the low light beautifully, making it possible to preserve candid reactions as well as a carefully arranged group portrait of the actors.
A favourite frame
The final group portrait became the favourite. The performers paused, the lighting landed in exactly the right place and there was just enough time to make a sharp, expressive photograph before the evening moved on.
